Projects Summary

Previously, Tembea has successfully implemented:

  • UK AID grant under Deepening Democracy Program (DDP) funded Youth Empowerment Project to the tune of Ksh.19 million in partnership with County Government of Siaya through a Technical Working Group mechanism giving rise to County Integrated Youth Action Plan;
  • MyClimate Foundation (Swiss non-profit that supports and develops carbon credit projects) funded carbon off-set energy efficient cook-stoves project and TEMBEA is now on its 14th year of implementation having constructed over 120,000 stoves. TEMBEA annually earns and uses resultant carbon credits averaging ksh.40 million for climate projects;
  • Currently, TEMBEA is implementing GIZ grant under BMZ (Germany’s Federal Ministry for economic co-operation and development) funded Western Kenya soil protection & rehabilitation Project to improve food-security, climate-resilience, livelihoods;
  • Operating a Community Sacco that increases access to affordable credit;
  • Operating Community Radio Station with coverage of over 200,000 residents in Siaya County;
